Subject: Three Very Short Macro Tips

[1]

Copyright Scott Bourne 2009 - All Rights Reserved

1. If you’re new to macro and just want to put your toe into the water before diving in head first, you can save some money and buy a simple close up lens kit to get a feel for macro work. If you like it – then you can buy a real macro lens later.

2. On-camera flash just doesn’t work for macro. In fact, it’s usually terrible. Use off camera flash and be sure to diffuse it as much as possible to avoid harsh shadows.

3. Be careful. Don’t disturb plants, flowers or insects just to get a shot. Remember you’re in their home. Act with respect.

Subject: Cleaning House – Gear For Sale

[1]

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who responded so quickly, I’ve sold and shipped more than $25,000 worth of gear in just one day. There only a few items left. Thanks again!

Due to a combination of several factors, including my increased interest in convergence, my decision to shoot wildlife strictly on video, my decision to open a portrait studio again and the realization that we actually have duplicates of several things that I don’t need as well as gear we bought for the sole purpose of reviewing it on Photofocus, I am selling some used gear. Oh yeah, one more thing – I can’t even open the door to my equipment room. I have to make room for all the new lighting and video gear I am buying so this stuff needs a new home.

If you’re interested, keep reading – If you’re not – thanks for reading this far.

I’m selling it first come first served. All prices firm. Unless otherwise noted, I’m not interested in trades or donating these items to charity. Sorry.

Also, I don’t have time to individually photograph all this stuff. You can see pictures of it online. I’ve been out in the public talking about photography online and in workshops since 1998. If I say it’s like new – it’s like new. I hope that is good enough. If not, you might be better off buying somewhere else. Sorry, no refunds or returns.

If you send an email to photofocus@me.com saying you want to buy, I’ll send you back a Google Checkout invoice. If someone else says they want it, I’ll send them an invoice too. The first person to actually pay wins. I won’t process further transactions and will cancel them to let others know the item is gone.

Thanks for your interest.

Here’s the stuff…that’s left…

[2]Nikon D3 12.1MP FX Digital SLR Camera (Body Only)[3]

MY PRICE $4200 INCLUDING FREE GROUND SHIPPING

UPDATE ONE SOLD ONE LEFT – I have two Nikon D3 bodies for sale. They are backup bodies that have seen low to moderate use. They are 100% operational and have never been dropped, have no dings or dents. Both bodies were recently sent to NPS for professional cleaning, checkup and refurb – cost me $250 each!

I have no idea how many shutter presses each body has nor do I know how to get that info easily. If that’s important to you – I can’t help you.

The cameras each come with the original box, charger, cables, software, strap, docs, etc. – everything you’d get if you bought the camera new. I am replacing these cameras with the new D3s.

Comes with a bonus 12×18 poster of my successful “Cranes in the Fire Mist” a copy of my book “88 Secrets to Wildlife Photography” and a surprise bonus. Total price is $4200 including ground shipping to anywhere in the Continental USA. Must pay with Google Checkout. Email me at photofocus@me.com if you are serious and I will send you a Google Checkout invoice. I send all packages via commercial carrier, signature required to your Google Checkout approved/registered address. Sorry no exceptions.

[4]Sigma 100-300mm f/4 EX DG IF HSM APO Fast Aperture Telephoto Zoom Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras[5]

MY PRICE $1150 INCLUDING FREE GROUND SHIPPING

I’ve used this lens for about a year and love it. I bought it because I didn’t like the original Nikon 70-200 F/2.8 due to vignetting problems. This was a good compromise. It’s super sharp and easy to hand hold. It comes with LensCoat protection installed, along with lens hood, front and rear lens caps, custom sigma case with strap, box and docs.
